Six months ago we visited this very kid-friendly city. We stayed in a Hilton Hotel 10 minutes drive from the downtown. We rented a car because we wanted to visit some very nice places such as Lego Land. For this we needed a car, because it was not directly in town.
What To Do With Kids In San Diego?
That was our first trip to travel to a foreign town with our younger daughter, Lili. She was only 7 months old. Before that age, we went to our hometown, but that was different to be in a place that we knew very well.
In San Diego we really wanted to see the city and we just wanted to enjoy everything with our kids.
I have to tell you that this city is very kid-friendly. There were lots of things to do with small kids. You just have to choose which one is your favorite and which one is the best for your kids.
- We visited the Birch Aquarium first.
This place was just the right size...neither too small, nor too large... for a 3,5 year old. There were lots of fishes. My daughter, Sophie could touch some animals from the ocean such as starfish.
- Lego Land is very famous.
This Lego Land is not direct in San Diego. You have to drive an hour from the city to get there to Carlsbad. Sophie, who loves to play legos since her first year, was very excited to go there. This is like a big theme park. The only thing that we really hated was stand in line for everything. There were huge line for example if you wanted to sit on a lego horse and ride around that took 45 minutes. That was very annoying because we hated to wait so long. But still we liked the place.
There was a small playground with Duplo Lego houses and cars. Maybe Sophie loved this the best.
At the end of the day my husband chose a different wife. That one was from lego. :)
- In San Diego there is a very good zoo. We had gorgeous weather and we enjoyed watching the beautiful animals.
On that day I saw a cheetah walk on a leash. Actually that was the first time in my life I saw a wild animal on a leash.
- We walked a little bit in the city as well. And at the harbor we visited the Maritime Museum of San Diego. We liked the Russian submarine there.
- I mentioned in an other post before that we like hiking. We went out from the city to the Mojave desert to the Anza-Borrego State Park where there is a beautiful, very interesting canyon.
It is really hard to find the road that goes there because it is not a normal surfaced road. The canyon is very narrow, it was hard sometimes to go through carrying Lili in front of me. Guess who liked this adventure the best? Of course, my 3,5 year old kid.
I guess there are lots of other things that we could see, but that was an awesome holiday and everybody just enjoyed it!
